Williston Enjoys Banner Day At North Dakota State Meet By Doug Binder, DyeStat Editor Williston senior Eleni Lovgren improved from fourth in 2020 to first in 2021 and helped her teammates win a second consecutive state cross country title. The North Dakota state cross country championships were held over two days at the Parkhurst Recreation Area in Jamestown. Lovgren improved her state meet time 30 seconds over last year and she won Saturday's Class A final by 17 seconds over Jaelyn Ogle of Watford City, a junior. Sophomore Aiden Johnson of West Fargo Sheyenne, who was 16th as a freshman, won the state title in the boys Class A race, running 15:34.3 as non-seniors took seven of the top nine spots. Williston earned the team title with 72 points, getting past Red River (77) and Bismarck (96). In Class B on Friday, senior Ian Busche of Beulah won the boys race in 16:23.0. The Bowman County boys retained the team title, with 58 points. Eighth grader Brynn Hanson of Des-Lacs Burlington/Lewis and Clark won the girls small-school race in 19:25.4.
