Willison Sweeps Class A Titles For Second Straight Year By Doug Binder, DyeStat Editor The Williston ND boys, ranked fifth in the Heartland region, defended their Class A title title in North Dakota by putting all five scorers in the top 18 at Parkhurst Recreation Area in Jamestown. Williston has been led all year by a front trio of Fynn Krenz, Ivan Askim and Ethan Moe and all three ran under 16 minutes and finished second, fifth and sixth in the state final. The gap back to four and five could present a challenge at the regional level, but Coyotes had more than enough to get the job done on Saturday, with 46 points. It was Williston's sixth state championship in boys cross country. Bismarck's Brady Korsmo, the younger brother of 2018 and 2020 state champion Sean Korsmo (now at Tulsa), won the individual title in 15:28.7 and was eight seconds up on Krenz. Willison completed the team sweep with the girls scoring 91 points to retain the title, edging out Red River (100) for the victory. The Coyotes put three in the top 12, including eighth grader Cambree Moss, who was sixth. It was the team's third state title. Jaeylyn Ogle from Watford City ran 18:15.5 to win the Class A final. She has won eight of nine races this fall. Ogle placed second in the two previous state meets. The Bowman County boys rolled to another Class B title by going 1-2-4-5-6 for a near-perfect 18 points. Austin Wanner (16:04.5) and Caleb Sarsland (16:09.7) led the way. Christian Brist from Hillsboro-Central Valley was the only runner to break up Bowman's top five. Rugby successfully defended its girls team title with 89 points as Amelia Shepard and Hannah Senechal finished third and fifth up front. Bowman County was second with 118 points. Brynn Hanson from Des-Lacs Burlington/Lewis and Clark, a freshman, won the B race for the second straight year in 18:57.5.
